General dance & learning faqs

1. What is the difference between ballroom and Latin dancing?

Ballroom dancing includes smooth dances like Waltz, Foxtrot, and Tango that glide across the floor, while Latin dances such as Cha Cha, Rumba, and Salsa are more rhythmic and expressive, emphasizing hip action and energy.

Most students start to feel way more comfortable dancing socially after 4–8 private lessons, but improvement continues with practice. Every dancer progresses differently depending on goals and frequency.

Not at all! Many of our students come solo. Our instructors rotate partners during lessons so everyone learns to lead and follow comfortably.

Wear comfortable clothing that allows movement. For shoes, choose smooth-soled shoes that stay on your feet (avoid flip-flops or sneakers with rubber grip).

Top beginner favorites include Salsa, Bachata, Waltz, Rumba, Foxtrot, and Swing — fun, versatile styles perfect for social events and weddings.
